To commemorate the sacrifices of Florida servicemen buried in ABMC (American Battle Monuments Commission) cemeteries in France, the students in Dr. Amelia Lyons’ undergraduate history classes at the University of Central Florida have written biographies of these soldiers and airmen who entered the service from Florida and gave their lives in France during the Second World War. Using primary sources, such as census records, newspaper articles, and military documents, the student researchers produced accounts of the early lives and military experiences of these servicemen. They also supplemented these narratives with secondary sources, or historical studies, in order to put the servicemen’s lives in the proper historical context.
