The U.S. Seventh Army established this cemetery in August 1944 when it moved up the Rhone valley after landing at the C\u00f4te d&#8217;Azur in Operation Dragoon. It holds the graves of 860 U.S. servicemen as well as a memorial commemorating 294 missing. Most of the servicemen buried here lost their lives liberating southern France. The cemetery was dedicated in 1956 and is maintained by the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abmc.gov\/Rhone\" target=\"_blank\">American Battle Monuments Commission<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Florida Servicemen Buried at the Rhone
