We are very excited to welcome you to Orlando for Console-ing Passions 2022 this summer: however, we are also aware of the unpredictability of the ongoing pandemic, and have been working towards a hybrid model to provide you the maximum flexibility for your participation.

Virtual and in-person registration will use the same tiered rate. Participants will be able to switch categories as needed, including at the last minute: if your plans change, the same registration applies, and you can participate in the method that is safest and most feasible for you.

  • $125 – Faculty / Full-time Employees
  • $75 – Students and Independent Scholars / Contingent Faculty

You can also donate to Console-ing Passions itself. CP is a registered non-profit organization that supports the international education, expansion, and expression of gender and media studies.  Donations to CP help support the many extra-conference contributions the organization makes, including its website and webinars.  We also pay tribute to one of our founders, the exemplary television scholar Jane Feuer, through the Jane Feuer Memorial Graduate Fund, which offers aid to graduate students seeking to attend CP conferences.  If you’d like to donate to either fund, please do so through this link, indicating either “general” or “Feuer” in the comments section.

In-person conference events will not include meals. Given the unpredictable nature of attendance, and different comfort and safety levels with indoor dining, we will offer extended meal breaks and guidance for a range of dining options. This allows us to reduce our costs, and offer participants flexibility without wasting food.

Panels can be fully online, in-person (with streaming), or hybrid. We will provide AV support as well as longer breaks between panels to allow participants to move between modalities. We will ask for your intended modality at the time of registration, but will allow for adjustments as needed based on changing conditions and personal health.

As part of the hybrid experience, we will be hosting a “Console-ing Passions Arcade,” a fully online segment of the exhibition making space for play and reflection. Please see the short call for works for more details.

We appreciate your time and patience as we work to build a conference that will provide community to those able to attend in-person as well as those attending remotely. We hope with these changes to create greater accessibility for all.
